Free or Nearly Free Technology That Will Make Your Life Easier:  Conference Calling

10/4/2013

Small businesses often struggle with little things that large corporations handle with ease.

When I worked for a large corporate office, I would generate meeting invitations that included dial-in information for those joining by phone.  At the scheduled time, those invited would call the number provided, enter an access code and presto... all 10 people would be able to speak to each other at once.

Why don’t small business owners and busy families use the same tools as the big guys?  It is
simple, they think it will cost them a small fortune.  But the fact is, there are now plenty of free options that will provide all of the basic services of the full-service providers.

The one that I like to use is www.FreeConferenceCall.com.  You sign up for an account, distribute the dial-in information and start talking.  The service is easy to use and they have never dropped any of my calls.  They also have other services like Simple Event for groups up to 1,000 and Simple Blast that enables you to record a message that will be delivered to a list of phone numbers for just pennies per message.

How to leverage these nifty services?

Free Conference Calling:
Staff Meetings for small business owners
Client Meetings for realtors and freelance professionals
Team Meetings for parents who just couldn’t make it in person
Family Meetings to figure out who is bringing what to the big reunion
Happy Couples wanting to communicate wedding details... just once

Simple Blast:
Gym owners can notify all 200 clients about a closed facility in a flash
Coaches can cancel practices by leaving just one message
Party planners can send a reminder while they attend to final details
